Close Support Technician (TS/SCI + Poly)

The DarkStar Group, a GRVTY Company is seeking a Close Support Technician with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Dulles, VA.  Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, and our benefits.

THE PROGRAM

The DarkStar Group is a member of 100% of the winning teams for the largest technology program in the Intel Community.  We've been supporting this customer on many different sub-projects of this program since our founding in 2013.  We've grown on this effort by providing the customer with Engineers who have done exceptional work, and we've retained our staff by paying very strong salaries, and working hard to ensure each Engineer is doing work that aligns with their career interest.

The Role

  • The Close Support Technician is responsible for providing in-depth support and problem resolution for Information Technology products, access administration, and/or applications.
  • The Close Support Technician interacts with users to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and performance problems for customers using LANs, PCs and printers. The Close Support Technician also analyzes and levies customer requirements to the appropriate technical business unit, and may serve on teams installing software upgrades.

Duties:

  • This Close Support Technician_ performs the following core functions:
  • Responsible for providing timely and dependable desktop and access administration support as well as problem resolution within the team
  • Interact with customers on-site in response to IT requests and problem resolution
  • Resolve technical issues relating to multiple operating environments, and various hardware issues (repair, reconfiguration, installation); and issues with both the standard suite of software products Microsoft Office suite, Lotus Notes, and other project-specific applications and configurations
  • Work closely with customers' IT needs and/or problems to ensure they are diagnosed and resolved in a timely fashion, while ensuring appropriate security standards and procedures are employed
  • Coordinate projects with appropriate service providers and custcustomers, identify/resolve project issues, and keep customers/project team members informed of projects' statuses
  • Provide access administration services (i.e., provide customers access to project-specific applications, databases and :shared files; process system requests; obtain approvals, and serve as a liaison between users and other support offices to resolve/fulfill IT and access administration problems/requirements)
  • Perform the physical setup and configuration of desktop hardware and software as needed

  • Maintain appropriate technical training to ensure skills are kept current with evolving technology
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the direction of Project Management
Required Skills   
  • Ability to travel on an infrequent, but as needed basis, primarily CON US
  • Thorough knowledge of the customer's enterprise network desktop hardware and standard application suites, (e.g., Microsoft Office, Skype, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical problems, and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard desktop hardware and software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of server administration, maintenance, and user account management
  • Willingness and ability to get hands dirty, move equipment and capable of lifting 20 lbs.
Desired Skills (Optional)
  • Experience designing, planning, and implementing stand-alone IT systems
  • Experience with systems or networks
  • Experience supporting Citrix virtual desktop environments
  • Experience with SIEM and security analytical technologies (e.g., Splunk, pcap, Netflow, Solarwinds, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux OS, Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, their provisioning and security.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess emerging technologies, determine their impact on corporate systems and incorporate them into technical plans.
